Spotlight: @FenkellPayroll & @CardoGotWings “Stack It, Stash It” Is A Haunting Classic

Published

on

The anticipation for Payroll Giovanni and Cardo’s Big Bossin Vol. 2 is at a near frenzy pace as the Jan. 26 release date grows ever closer. The recently released “Mail Long” was a great way to introduce people to the aesthetic of the Big Bossin Vol. 1 follow-up, a more authentic, West Coast-influenced sound that bridges multiple cultures. Now, the wondrous pair has released the slinky “Stack It, Stash It,” a smooth yet fiery, fast-paced anthem to all things money. Acquire the currency, put it away. And most importantly, if you aren’t getting money, leave your broke ass home, the song tells us.

Cardo’s ethereal production sounds especially strange on this one in the best way that you can imagine. Being both inviting and haunting, fast yet cautious, the production practically screams for Payroll’s unique lyrical talents to envelop it, turning it into summer’s defining jam.

It’s official, we really can’t wait for Big Bossin Vol. 2 now.

His new collaboration with Curtis Williams (who’s worked with A$AP Rocky, J.I.D., and Wiz Khalifa) digs deep into the idea of legacy and rejecting the idea of sainthood. Smooth, complex, and endlessly memorable, it’s a striking listen that stays with you long after the song ends.
