R&B Songstress Liyah Shares Debut Sonic Visual “Always There”

Published

on

17-year-old songstress and independent artist Liyah drops the visual for her debut single “Always There.” The song is a harmonious effort that displays Liyah’s talents and skills in a way that audiences have yet to see from her. The Toronto native brings a unique sound to the R&B industry, while keeping her lyrics original and different. She stands apart from her peers in that she brings a pop blend to her music — making for a catchy tune that is sure to be on repeat all day.

“It’s a song about realizing your worth as an individual and wanting to be valued in your relationship,” Liyah said in a recent interview.

Despite the song being about a love interest who is making Liyah feel insignificant, her short yet vibrant dance routines and boisterous vibe add to the catchy feel of the song.

Liyah begins the visual walking into a dance studio reminiscing about her lover and vibing with two dancers. As the song builds up to the hook, the audience gets quick clips that tease her dancing in the studio. Given that she’s named after the late great Aliyah, it seems only fair that she’d be sporting 90s inspired parachute pants and a white crop top.

After the hook, the young singer alternates between hanging out in a car with friends and dancing in the studio alongside backup dancers. All in all, Liyah is able to channel a very 90s vibe for her visual while still maintaining a modern feel that could make a fan out of anyone.

Sharc Goes on the Attack in “1 of 1” Video

With his sharp wordplay and a flow that cuts through any instrumental, Sharc raps like he smells blood in the water. Reconnecting with his SossHouse head honcho Pi’erre Bourne, who provides the track’s bouncy piano production, Sharc shares his new video single, “1 of 1.” The track finds the Queens native delivering flex after flex, skating over the piano plinks with clever wordplay: “She spilling rosé in the Audi/Dirty bird, you can say it’s a Falcon.”

The video for “1 of 1,” directed by CASEUNO, was shot during the North American leg of Pi’erre Bourne’s “Good Movie World Tour,” for which Sharc provided support. Opening with a distorted clip of a woman warning of an attack, the video finds Sharc completely locked in as he eats up the beat like predators in a feeding frenzy, with vintage horror film sequences of shark attacks interspersed throughout.

Signed to Pi’erre Bourne’s SossHouse imprint, Sharc made an impact with his 2021 full-length debut, 47 Meters Down, entirely produced by Pi’erre. “Drunk N Nasty,” a collaboration between Sharc and Pi’erre Bourne from the latter’s 2021 album The Life of Pi’erre 5, recently earned a GOLD certification from the RIAA. In 2023, Sharc looks to make even bigger waves with his sharp flows and quick wit. Stay tuned for much more to come from the Queens native as he keeps on swimming.
