Offset Jim & Aitch Count Pounds and Puff Ounces in “Chinese K”

Published

on

Offset Jim once again reminds the world why he cannot be contained to the Bay, releasing visuals for his international banger, “Chinese K” featuring U.K. rap star, Aitch. While Aitch has become something of a household name in the U.K. in his own right, the pair first connected when the Manchester rapper posted an Instagram story of himself rapping Jim’s hit, “No Pressure,” word-for-word, hailing the Oakland native as a G.O.A.T. Finally reconnecting to drop Fred Focus-directed visuals, “Chinese K” shows the international duo flexing as usual while the rappers bounce their smack talk off one another: “Smoke blunts big as little n****s/Dior to the floor, you in Hilfiger,” spits Jim, and Aitch retorts, “From the Bay to the UK we got a shipment/Broski in the trap, but s***, he run it like a business.” “Chinese K” is just the latest addition in a series of recent high-production videos from Offset Jim’s critically acclaimed Rich Off The Pack, like “Thugs Cry,” “Off White Mikes” ft. EST Gee “Members Only,” “Face Card” ft. Kenny Beats, “Make No Sense” ft. Babyface Ray, and “Regular.”

The video for “Chinese K” arrives while Offset Jim wraps up a career year in major fashion. As he prepares for his set at Rolling Loud California this weekend, Bay Area fans have been buzzing with excitement since Jim’s friend and 3-time NBA Champion with the Golden State Warriors, Klay Thompson, shouted Jim out on his Instagram live, urging fans to cop Rich Off The Pack.

“I like his music a lot,” said Thompson to The Ringer, “He’s just really the voice of Oakland. His storytelling, his ability with flow and talking about where he came from. The struggles, the obstacles he had to overcome to be the artist he is today. That’s why I like him a lot. Because he’s raw and he’s authentic to who he is.”

In a heavily populated Bay Area rap scene, Offset Jim has remained a standout since emerging alongside fellow Play Runners Association rapper ALLBLACK in 2018 and 2019. Hailing from the notorious Oakland neighborhood known as the Murder Dubs, Jim first made waves after back-to-back releases in 2019. The first was his solo effort, No Pressure, featuring the local hit titular track, which amassed over 3 million streams, and the second, 22nd Ways, a collab mixtape with ALLBLACK, featuring the Bay Area favorite, “Trip On It,” which amassed over 8 million streams. With the release of Rich Off The Pack, Offset Jim has put the nation on notice that he’s far more than just the Bay Area’s problem now.
