Multi-Platinum Producer Chi Chi Signs Global Publishing Deal With UMPG

Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), a leading, global music publisher, today announced that in-demand songwriter/producer Chi Chi has been signed to an exclusive, global publishing deal.

A Nigerian-American producer from Jonesboro, Georgia, Chidi “Chi Chi” Osondu specializes in creating “trap ballads,” blending classical notes to Atlanta’s popular trap sound. Chi Chi co-created the hit song “Throat Baby” by BRS Kash, which reached #1 on Urban Radio, has more than 29 million Spotify streams, and more than 14 million YouTube plays.

Additionally, Chi Chi built a solid discography producing hits for Grammy-nominated rapper Lil Baby including “Solid,” “Get Money,” and “Social Distancing” from the major album ‘My Turn,’ as well as co-creating “Both Sides” by Lil Baby ft. Gucci Mane.  The producer also collaborated with Rylo Rodriguez to create the popular track “No Fentanyl/Camera Roll.”

Walter Jones, UMPG Co-Head A&R said: “UMPG is happy to be partnering with rising creator Chi Chi. He already sees success with hits like Lil Baby’s “On Me,” and we are confident he will become one of the industry’s most sought-after producers.”

Raised in a Nigerian household, Chi Chi was strongly influenced by afro-beats music and blueprint styles created by producers like Wheezy and Southside. The rising star’s contagious tag, “What’s happenin’, Chi Chi?” is growing to signature recognition in the music world.
