COMPTON’S NEIGHBORHOOD HOPE DEALER WALLIE THE SENSEI SINGS HIS TRUTH ON NEW SINGLE “HOMI”

Published

on

Compton’s emotive assassin Wallie The Sensei returns with the intense, emotionally complex single “Homi.” “Homi” follows Wallie’s recent “Ghetto Lullaby” and July’s critically acclaimed project, the instant street classic, GOLDEN CHILDListen HERE.

“Homi” is one of the most gripping tracks Wallie has penned to date, exploring the emotional toll that death, crime, and poverty have had on him and his community. “Feel like the tension in my city is so real, it’s like we all in jail and end up getting killed,” he croons over smooth, acoustic guitar. Wallie is equally blunt about his role in the chaos that surrounds him: “Why we kill so much, I just don’t understand/If guns is instruments I’m tryna lead the band.”

“Homi” builds on the momentum of GOLDEN CHILD, a project spearheaded by “03 Flow,” which has amassed more than 5 million views on YouTube. A true labor of love, “03 Flow” pays homage to fellow rapper 03 Greedo who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence. It soon took on a life of its own with radio support and glowing praise from music peers like PnB Rock, industry heavyweights, radio DJs, and more.

Golden Child also includes Wallie’s team-up with Detroit powerhouse 42 Dugg on the remix of “Scandalous.” The two trade bars with ease as Wallie recounts the struggles of success and the haters who would come for his head. With “Homi,” he offers a flip side to the tales spun on GOLDEN CHILDoutlining both the pain that shaped him and his hope for a better future.
