Here’s Why @YungBizzle704 ‘s “Lately” Is An Autotune Smash
T-Pain literally revolutionized the use of voice effects in modern rap music. Of course he utilized the convention to create R & B music, but the rap world became enraptured with his ways and nearly immediately emulated them. And boy, were there some horrible attempts. Ron Brownz’s “Pop Champagne” and “Jumpin Out The Window” were perhaps the worst of them all. Since then, with the exception of Kanye’s 808 and Heartbreak album, autotune use has largely been a toss up whenever it’s been used. We’re still truthfully waiting for someone to really make it effective in the rap game, even when it’s being used much more frequently.
Yung Bizzle’s sultry new track “Lately” proves that he just might be the one to bring the talent. The track is heavy with the feels, thanks to Bizzle’s unapologetic autotune crooning that sounds heavenly compared to much of what exists that utilizes the technology. Bizzle croons loud and effectively as he sings about his relationship with a beautiful woman and the activities that entail keeping her love. The production moves swiftly and embraces Bizzle’s vocals as he shines dominantly over the percussion and melodies.
Autotune is judged by the quality of the background just as much as the vocals themselves. Bizzle’s track works so well because everything feels cohesive – from the melodies on the backend to the vocals. When it’s perfectly mixed, you know that you have a banger. And that’s the case with “Lately.”
