TY DOLLA $IGN & CAPELLA GREY RELEASE VISUAL FOR SUMMER ANTHEM “OT”

Published

on

Bronx singer-songwriter Capella Grey returns with “OT,” a breezily stylish new single laced with West Coast funk and guest vocals from the one and only Ty Dolla $ign. “OT” (slang for “out of town”) evokes positive vibes and the carefree lifestyle of an eligible bachelor — a fitting release for the beginning of summer. Accompanied by a luxurious, sun-drenched new video set in Cali, “OT” evokes positive vibes and the carefree lifestyle of an eligible bachelor — a fitting release for the beginning of summer. Watch HERE.

Leading things off is Capella, who slides into the bouncy bass as he lets loose a credo for all the ballers without borders: “Why would I take a shorty OT? / There’s already shorties OT / Why would I bring sand to the beach / When they’re all on me and they’re all OD?” For his part, Ty opens with a quippy rhetorical question about why he’d ever bring a baddie to Tulum. After all, they all go to Tulum. Playful and effortlessly stylish, “OT” emits energy and sunshine.

OT” only continues a lengthy winning streak for Capella, who’s become one of New York’s fastest-rising stars over the last year. Pairing a flexible voice with an equally malleable style, the Capitol Music Group signee has captivated fans with a nostalgic, shape-shifting mix of R&B, dancehall, and soul. Last year, his breakout single, “Gyalis,” peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and, to date, the track has earned over 55 million Spotify streams. Combining sensuous vocals with a feature from Nija, he continued building momentum with “Confujawn,” a thoughtful rumination on a struggling relationship. With “OT” at his back and summer just ahead, Capella is all set to make the rest of 2022 his biggest year yet.

Exploring the turbulent environment of his Chicago home with gripping narratives and fine-tuned details, King Von could tell a story like no other. Produced by frequent collaborator Chopsquad DJ, who provides a whirling dervish of piano arpeggios, “Get It Done” is a stern warning from both rappers about what happens to those who cross them. In the video, Von and Peezy get the drop on some would-be attackers before whipping off to a secluded area in a brand new Maserati. “Get It Done” is the latest quality visual to stem from WIMTBKand the first since March’s “Too Real.”

A labor of love that compiles unheard music from the artist’s oeuvre, What It Means To Be King features contributions from many of the people who knew Von best, including regular producer and collaborator Chopsquad DJ, his “twin” Lil Durk, and fellow O’Block natives like Boss Top and DqFrmDaO, along with street rap heroes like like 21 SavageMoneybagg YoG Herbo, and more, making plain the level of respect Von commanded in the rap game at large. Trapland Pat‘s dexterous flow, deep sense of melody, and infectious smile have helped the young rapper position himself as a rising star in the bustling South Florida scene. Earning a co-sign from the Sunshine State’s sunglass-clad jefe, Pat recruits Rick Ross for Big Business (Remix).” Built around the bouncy piano rolls of Pat’s constant collaborator Pepper Jack Zoe, “Big Business” first saw release in 2021, and quickly became Pat’s breakout hit. Exuding easy confidence and packed with off-beat wordplay (“If you need a loan, you gotta pay me interest/No cappery/ Call the weed man, ’cause this shit here swappery”) the song racked up over 4 million YouTube views and earned recognition from Passion Of The Weiss, who ranked the song #18 on its list of Best Rap Songs of 2021. On the remix, Rick Ross slides like the booming-voiced boss he is, rhyming about carrying extendos in his fresh Rolls Royce and old school Box Chevy.

The remix arrives with a new video, which brings the veteran Ross to Deerfield Beach, giving the Miami native an opportunity to bless the bustling scene in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. Directed by Pat’s go-to shooter ShotByJolo, the video vibrates with excitement, as Pat and his homies celebrate their ascent. The video embodies a distinctly Floridian blend of chaos, as Pat rides a horse through Little Haiti and Rick Ross pulls up in 700 horses of his own. The video features cameo appearances from the track’s producer Pepper Jack Zoe, rappers like Sauce WalkaFCG HeemSauce Wooden, and Taleban Dooda, YouTubers like King CidJ Wonder, and Pappi Willie, and DJ Sam Sneak, along with dozens of Deerfield Beach residents who turn the block into a party. “Big Business (Remix)” follows Pat’s recent project Trapnificentwhich came out in May.

The follow-up to last year’s Thru Da Door,Trapnificent is home to standout singles like the joyful “Trap Dance” and the sinister “D.O.A.” Pat taps Pepper Jack Zoe to handle the bulk of the production, his creeping piano-led beats providing grounding for Pat’s larger-than-life bars and hummable melodies. Trapnificent rolls out the red carpet for a tasteful selection of guests, including Sacramento street hero Mozzy,Fredo Bang, who signed Pat to his imprint Bang Biz and appears twice on the tape, NYC Winners Circle maestro Eli Fross, and Memphis’

Ready to bring his searing street raps to a larger audience, Trapland Pat has the goods to be Broward County’s next big star. Trapnificent is available everywhere via Bang Biz Ent./Alamo Records.
