R&B SENSATION KENDY X SHARES DEBUT PROJECT ‘MISPLACED’

Published

on

Long Beach-raised R&B singer/songwriter Kendy X makes her highly anticipated debut with the release of Misplaced EP out now via Rose Records. An evocative collection of songs that magnetically draws listeners in with her poignant and amative lyrics dazzled with her indomitable sense of confidence, Misplaced celebrates the strength in choosing yourself and forging a path of self-love in the most heaviness of times. The title hints at Kendy X’s continued growth on this journey.

Misplaced can mean a lot of different things, depending on who you are,” Kendy X shares. “Personally, I misplaced who I thought was. I would belittle myself and not step into my power. I was lost. At the end, I found myself.” “This project is about finding yourself and becoming the woman you are meant to be and not changing for anybody.”

The six-track EP is the product of the prodigious R&B rising star whose natural talent as an artist has flourished from self-growth and in-studio collaborations with elite Grammy-Winning producers Ayo n Keyz (Beyonce, Cardi B, Chris Brown) and Grammy Nominated Producer AVB (Queen Naija, Eric Bellinger, Rotimi).

In addition to the EP’s critically acclaimed single, Kendy X’s debut single, “For Me,” featuring DreamDoll and Kalan.Fr.Fr (charted Top 20 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales Chart), Misplaced features five new songs that speak to the hopes, insecurities and beauty we experience as we navigate the journey of knowing and loving ourselves and others and traces Kendy X’s journey over unpredictable R&B soundscapes uplifted by her skyscraping vocals.

Boosted by a throwback nineties-style groove, the opener “Let Me Be” examines what she calls “a relationship where you’re trying to figure out what’s on the other person’s mind and how you can be perfect for the situation.” Elsewhere, “Pull Me Back” ebbs and flows with the tumultuousness of a toxic relationship where “you’re breaking up, making up, and getting pulled back in all the time,” as she puts it. Flaunting her confidence, a bass-y keyboard melody underscores the sassy “Catch This” as she coyly warns, “You gonna mess around and lose me to somebody else.” “Options” delivers to soulful sonics blanketed by blissful storytelling of Kendy’s voyage with overcoming relationship hardships as she toys with the idea of turning a new page. Then, there’s “Celebrate.” Her airy delivery floats over finger-snaps and a slick beat as she sets the stage for a sultry reunion, “I can’t wait to celebrate.

As Kendy X builds a promising path in the R&B world, she gears up for the spotlight stage as the official opening act alongside Los Angeles’ own Kalan. FrFr for his Never Lose You Tour, which kicked off last night in Orlando, FL. For more information visit: www.kalanfrfr.com
