HOUSTON RAPPER UNVEILS OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR LABEL DEBUT TRACK, “MIGHT NOT LIKE IT”

KenTheMan announces new label partnership with Asylum Records. The Houston rapper celebrates with the release of the companion video to her unapologetic new track “Might Not Like It,” out now on all streaming platforms. Filmed by Trill Art, KenTheMan linked up with her hometown station 97.9 The Box and DJ Young Jas to pay homage to her Texas roots and show love to her day one supporters. Watch the freestyle-esque visual HERE.

On the new label partnership, Ken shares, “I feel like me and Asylum picked each other because they listen, they understand and they’re hungry just like me. I can’t wait to take over with them!”

Produced by Bigg Cuz, “Might Not Like It” showcases the distinctive and free-spirited bars that catapulted Ken to Top 10 on the Apple Music Hip Hop charts with her 2020 breakout project 4 da 304’s. Heralded by Complex as a “Rapper To Watch in 2021,” Ken’s no holds barred approach to creating female anthems solidifies her as one of the freshest new voices in music.

Houston rapper KenTheMan is building a strong foundation rooted in versatility, vibrancy and vitality. The Texas native first affirmed her talents for writing in the third grade, taking home a school prize for poetry. In the years that followed, Miller let her fiery ambition and trust in her path guide her forward, later returning to her love for music to see where it could potentially lead. After adopting her KenTheMan moniker and making a promise to her father she’d go back to school if music didn’t pan out, she went all in on her craft.

While balancing motherhood with finding her footing as a rapper, KenTheMan continued to put in her 10,000 hours, experiencing hard-earned breakout success when her single “He Be Like” went viral in spring 2019. Written in her car in between delivering for DoorDash and Uber, the song enabled her to be able to quit gig work and pursue music full time. As the track garnered millions of streams across platforms and propelled her career to new heights, KenTheMan’s bold, sex-positive anthem became the first of many in her burgeoning catalog.

Determined to persevere and continue building momentum despite facing difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, KenTheMan retreated into writing mode, dropping her debut EP in August 2020. Released independently, 4 Da 304’s is a powerful offering that swiftly resonated with fans, climbing to No. 9 on the Apple Hip-Hop Charts and generating more than three million streams within its first 24 hours. As KenTheMan continues to hone her distinctive sound, her skills as a multifaceted rapper consistently shine through.

With a lyrical prowess that can compete with the best of ’em, KenTheMan is as much at home delivering raunchy punchlines as she is crafting melodic narratives through engaging storytelling, tactical metaphors and infectious hooks. Proud to have worked her way into the national conversation and become part of a rich lineage of strong-willed women in rap—all on her own terms—KenTheMan can currently be found readying her debut project in partnership with Asylum Records.

Philadelphia-bred recording artist and producer, Scholito, a.k.a “Lito,” drops off his new, sumptuous body of work, ‘Crawfioni Chronicles: Collection I.’ The 13-track project comes less than six months after his Black Panther-inspired ‘The Cycle’ release.

“Dreaming of the crowds, reminiscing of the stages/COVID changed the game, n***** gotta get creative,” raps on track 2 “Crawfionis > Escobars.”

With no features, Scholito is here to impress, flexing his lyrical prowess while celebrating life. The quintessence of luxury rap, ‘Crawfioni Chronicles: Collection I’ finds Scholito offering plenty of motivation and gems for listeners over plush production.

“My inspiration for this project is where I’m at in life at this present moment. Purchased a new estate with the love of my life..been traveling a lot and living everyday like it’s my last. Trying new things such as sail boating and helicopter rides,” Scholito shares with us.

Joei Redd

Motor City rapper Joei Redd has been feeding the streets with music since her debut mixtape ‘While Y’all Were Sleeping.’ After killing multiple features and shows in the city, she became one of the most sought-after talents in her region. Detroit is known for its eclectic style and hard-hitting production. Joei’s confident, authentic bars have kept her in the ears and hearts of many.  Coming off her latest release, “Bay Bae,” Redd drops a new EP, BOON, catered to a wider fan base in the industry. The tracks on the EP are the epitome of growth within the creator.

Redd’s music is compatible with almost every lyrical rap fan imaginable, but her lifestyle is only for the realist. Fortunately, Joei is on a different level of artistry and storytelling than before. Her magical flow and willingness to work with various producers have helped her get this far. Her latest EP pushes the limits of her skillset like never before. Songs like “Hollywood” and “Can’t Wait” are bright moments on the 7 track EP. Her collaborations with Falana Michelle, Al Khufu, and Woodrow The Entertainer are perfectly placed. The new project shows Redd being more than an artist. She sees music in a way she has not before. No one can sonically paint the picture of her life as well as she does.

While this EP is one of the city’s books, she is looking to grow past that soon. Her following on social media is strong, and the music is getting better every day. Very soon, you will hear about Joei in more circles if her growth continues at this level. At just under 18 minutes, the succinct project is a nice sample of what is to come.
