OG Spliff Releases “Twilight Town”
North Carolina has been the budding ground for incredible music talent over the past few years,
particularly in the hip hop world. Now, OG Spliff seems to be next in line. The Winston-Salem
rapper has been breaking the algorithm since the release of his 2021 EP “PRE ROLL” bursting
onto the scene with his single, LUV ME and most recently securing editorial placements on
Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Hip Hop and Gaming Lounge for St Nick.
This week, the enigmatic rapper returns with a new song titled, “Twilight Town” produced by
upcoming Israeli hip-hop producer argov who has previously worked with Spliff on the track,
“baby boy”. The dynamic duo raises the bar yet again as the two deliver on an uplifting-jazzy
90s reminiscent beat, interspersed with OG’s rapping style of mixing street experiences, anime
references, & african diaspora introspection. Spliff’s voice is recognizable from a mile away, and
he sets the tone from the moment his first adlib comes in. Drawing inspiration from Tetsuya
Nomura’s ‘Kingdom Hearts’ and the anthology series ‘Twilight Zone’; Spliff highlights themes of
family, simulated reality, and more while referencing both mediums in the lyrics & title itself. The
visual dropping the same day as the record was directed by upcoming videographer Hassan.
