Jackboy Marley Shares Who His Musical Influences Are

Published

on

Ft. Worth Texas’s very own Jackboy Marley is stepping up his game with his new project “Jackal Pt. 2: The Ouroboros Effect.” The project is what he likes to call “an EP on steroids.” This project is the second in the series “The Jackal.”This project coveys a little more of Jackboy Marley’s thoughts.

He went on to explain why and said “It is not an album or mixtape, but more of an EP on steroids, if you will. The second part in The Jackal EP series that allows Marley unfettered room to deliver heavily concise points and perspectives in a more direct manner.”

Being influenced by all of the things around him, like his daughter and where he grew up, he has a different view on life that he wants to share. With these different ideologies, Jackboy Marley wants to “challenge the status quo and how people have accepted reality. He believes this can be done with simple things such as a Low-Fi beat or even hard-hitting 808’s.

Not only is he influenced by his life but he is also influenced by different artist such as Marilyn Manson, Queen, Lil Wayne, Tupac, and UGK. These influences have helped mold his sound by giving a bit of alternative influence while still being Hip Hop. He uses the mix of genre and flare to present a sound with a street, social, political, and spiritual consciousness. With all of these different influences it is a little hard to pin point where Jackboy Marley sits as faras genre. To clear this up we asked him during our interview what genre he felt he best aligned with and he responded saying “hip-hop. However, I like to consider my style to be somewhat genre bending. I have a wide variety of musical influences, and I like to creatively incorporate them into my music. I never want to be boxed in as a traditional rap artist when there is so much, I want to explore, musically!

Jackboy Marley writes all his own music and co-produces with an in house producer. This ensures that the music he creates will convey his precise points and views. He wants to sort of set people free with his music. He believes that music is a sincere form of expression and helps listeners express themselves. The second part of the Jackal series is sure to change the way any listener listens to music.

Be on the look out for the EP dropping on April 29th  and be sure to keep up with him on social media @jackboymarley

Black Skywalker, the rising artist with an undeniable buzz, drops his debut EP, I Need Therapy.

The new project promises to usher in the new era of hip-hop. “Rap music is in a dark place and I came to bring the light,” said Skywalker. “The type of music I make is best described as Outer Space Jedi-level rap shit.”

Black Skywalker and Chris Rosa produced the debut EP featuring the focus track “Pills and Alcohol”. The single describes a man battling depression and anxiety with prescription medicine and champagne.

The EP includes hard-hitting 808s, crackling snares, and spacey synths. “We in Love” is a melodic record with a bouncy bass and drums. However, the lyrics depict a flawed relationship due to social media and porn addiction.

Black Skywalker’s ‘Pain of Letting Go’ has huge production and raw guitar. The lyrics express deep emotion and heartbreak, making the EP’s inspiration very clear.

“Therapy” is a song that touches on the struggles of life and the importance of seeking help. The production is interesting, with dark verses and uplifting hooks. The second verse highlights the benefits of opening up to a therapist and encourages others to do the same.

“Slide with Me” is a standout track from the EP with great production and an infectious hook. It narrates the story of falling in love with the woman of your dreams and has an upbeat vibe that sets it apart from the rest of the EP.

EP delivers a relatable conversation, amazing production, and intentional songwriting. Black Skywalker calls it outer space Jedi-level rap music.
