Roc Nation’s Brooklyn Rapper HDBeenDope Unleashes Extended EP Release of What Can They Say

Published

Brooklyn rapper HDBeenDope is releasing the extended version of his debut Roc Nation What Can They Say EP. Continuing the partnership with producer Dizzy Banko, the extended EP brings explosive new features from Harlem rapper Fergie Baby and Bronx breakout star Connie Diiamond. Playfully teased with a LeBron and 2Chainz inspired announcement, the extended project unites lead figures from each corner and boroughs across New York City to pay homage to HD’s east coast roots and the 50th anniversary of hip hop.

Through his intricate storytelling and skilled lyricism HD has distinguished a unique sound for himself that stands out from the high-energy drill scene dominating New York.

The most recent single from the extended EP, “Can’t Get Rid of Me” taps Harlem rapper Fergie Baby, for a high-energy flow between the duo, punctuated with teasing ad-libs as he warns “I’m back” and the game “can’t get rid of me.” The accompanying visual for the collaborative track extends the homage HD pays to New York through styling easter eggs nodding to DMX, curated visual choices from Bronx designer, Thalia Hernandez, and more.

Today’s drop includes lead single “Happening” featuring Bronx rapper Connie Diiamond. The rapper gives fans a deeper look into his struggle with relationships while pursuing his dreams of breaking through the music industry.

“We had to continue building on the energy we created with the first version of the project, I had a lot more sitting in the vault.” says HDBeenDope “Here we go, four more songs coming straight out of the streets of New York.”

This week, HDBeenDope hosted a pop up in Manhattan’s Bowery Showroom with a surprise performance that featured Fergie Baby and Connie Diiamond in celebration of the extended release.

HDBeenDope continues to build on the insurmountable success of his Roc Nation debut with lead track, “Mamba” from 2022’s What Can They Say EP which has quickly grown to become an anthem celebrated and shared by the industry’s elite, such as actress Tia Mowry, NBA Miami Heat player Jimmy Butler, Kansas Chief Quarterback and Super Bowl Winner Patrick Mahomes, LeBron James, major networks like ESPN, and sports stadiums nationwide. HD’s early standout single “Locked In” has quickly become a viral sensation after its initial tease onTikTok which continues to amass millions of views.

This extended project release marks the culmination of the rapper’s massively successful discography which includes 2021’s Side A: The Preface featuring multi-platinum producer Earl On The Beat (Megan Thee Stallion, Migos, Lil Yachty), single release “Top,” which was featured in Madden NFL 21, and 2020’s BrokeN Dreams featuring hit single “Die With Me” which cultivated critical acclaim from HYPEBEAST, DJBooth, XXL.

Star2 x Sprite x Luh Kel release the new single and video “Where Would You Go?”. The song taps into the frustration of questioning someone’s loyalty to you. The verses seamlessly shift between English and Thai in a vibrant fusion of R&B-infused melodic hip hop that is both poignant and powerful.

“Where Would You Go?” was filmed at Wat Saket (The Golden Mount), which is a significant ancient Buddhist temple in Bangkok where monks live and pray.  Many scenes took place in the cave on the property that displays a large replica of the towering 33 ft. “Bamiyan Buddha” from central Afghanistan that was destroyed by the Taliban in 2001, and recreated to bring back the lost cultural heritage.

“Where Would You Go?” is from Star2’s forthcoming EP, No Place Like Home, which is set to drop on May 9th.
