Why @ShamefulNatalie’s new song “100 Bands” Is Music For Your Ears
Every so often, we step outside of our regular realm of sounds and gift our readers/listeners with something out of the ordinary. It keeps us, just as much as our readers, on our toes. We listen to so much, so, when we find a song that sounds unlike anything we’ve heard in recent days, we are eager to share it with the world. Today’s find comes from Natalie, an NY-based artist from Houston, and her new cut “100 Bands.” We’re going to keep it all the way real and give you three reasons why you should check it out.
Natalie knows her shit
Natalie grew up in both Chicago and Houston, meaning that she’s equally knowledgeable in drill music and the chopped and screwed scene. In a recent interview with ELEVATOR, she revealed that her music attempts to mix some of the stylings that she found in the DJ Screw tapes that she grew up on. There aren’t many people on this wave, so hearing that she’s learning from her influences should pique your interest.
Her sound is off the well-beaten path
Describing Natalie’s sound is a little harder than you could imagine. For all intents and purposes, lets just label it as “techno.” Natalie then brings in a number of creative touches that meld genres and make her music a product of all of them.
Her attention to detail is uncanny
Even something as simple as cover art, Natalie puts a hundred and ten percent in. “100 Bands”‘s cover continues a theme that her last project SHAMEFUL utilized – a simplistic item-centric cover system. Her songs also sound similar in a sense that she’s writing her own musical series – all of the pieces connect in their own special ways. That’s what makes her one of the most special artists you’ve heard recently.
