Is RiskTaker D-Boy The Next Up Out Of Detroit?

Published

on

It’s happening slowly, but Detroit’s presence in the music industry is being felt. Cash Kidd’s name rings all throughout the country. Molly Brazy has become a household name. Kash Doll, since getting out of her record label situation, has become one of the game’s hottest female rappers that refrains from hopping into beef. Now, the spotlight is on the city to produce more rappers. And we have tons – from AllStar JR, to Boss Mu, from Rondae, to Saucy E. Everyone’s working, hard too.

RiskTaker D-Boy is one of the artists that comes up in conversation about being the city’s next gigantic star. His flow is mesmerizing, subtle, and endearing. Passionate are his rhymes that often clash with the brisk production that he chooses. His style isn’t easily imitated, even if others try to replicate his success. With his videos being some of the most consistently high-viewed visuals on the 4ShoMag channel, is he truly the next out of the city?

On one hand, I believe so. He’s clearly got the it factor. That factor is seldom found in the city. There’s a certain amount of respect that one must garner from their listening base that causes it to grow. Many don’t have it; possibly, because they’re faking the funk. But D-Boy is respected, and makes good music. “Gone So Long” is the kind of hard-hitting, relatable jam that to make, one must be confident in their abilities. Its luxe sounds make it one of the best of his recent releases.

At the same time, maybe the image needs a little fine tuning. As he stands, he appears a little more mature than the younger audience that will perhaps consume his content the most. Rap doesn’t like old, and even though D-Boy may not be nearly as old as you think he is, there’s still a great deal that can be done to improve his image.

Regardless, the future will tell if there’s some new levels for RiskTaker D-Boy to reach. Check out his video for “Gone So Long” below.

This unique product of individuality is the definition of music artist Keem Reign. The East Coast native is in a league all of his own, with the release of his captivating album Life Goes On. Consisting of 23 unparalleled tracks, this project is so much more than a hip-hop release.

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Keem Reign is a budding talent full of soul, experience and imagination. Finding his inspiration for music within his own life, Keem’s creation process is filled with a variety of emotions. A major part of his personal influence in music comes from his mother and understanding her sacrifice. Keem often uses her journey of being a single mother as fuel to produce some of his most vulnerable lyrics.

This latest release serves as a reintroduction of Keem’s style and musical presence. Finding his own flare of blending rapping with singing, Life Goes On is an interesting layered project. Keem’s voice is smooth and melodic, putting listeners into almost a meditative trance. Despite the light touch, this album was heavily inspired by heartbreak.
