Published

on

Introducing you to a brand new name in rap you need to know – South East London based lyricist DWills steps into the space with his official debut track “Shiners”, effortlessly marking his presence with an infectious catchy single you need to hear. Short and sweet, this single produced by LVCIEN comes paired with an equally tasteful visual that opens up an exciting window into his eclectic style and unique vision. Bouncing sonically between a galaxy of trap-hats, cheeky ad libs and slick wordplay, “Shiners” is the perfect entry track to the new name ready to take space.

Speaking on the creative direction behind the visual, DWills mentions, “I actually let the visual team take the reins on producing the visuals – I let the creative team go off with it and they kill it every time!”. Creative Production team Alibivisions adds, “We teamed up with DWills on this after seeing him perform, and the energy he’d bring to the stage. We knew that if we could capture it using a 360 cam and techniques such as lens whacking, we’d be able to efficiently showcase the style of music DWills creates, with the growing cinematic style we intertwine with our style of visuals.”

Drawing inspiration from the likes of ASAP Rocky, Skepta, Wu-tang Clan and Nas to name a few, DWIlls is fast creating a distinctive name for himself across the underground scene, and is ready to cultivate a wider presence. Speaking on the making of “Shiners” and the meaning behind the track itself, DWills comments, “Shiners is about being true to yourself and standing out without having to “fake it till you make it” like many others feel obligated to do.

Shining with the people you started with and still doing great things while being true to yourself.“
DWills is best described as a visionary artist who provides a new and needed vibrant sound to the UK music scene. Utilising an extensive palette of slick flows, captivating lyrical executions while complimented by deep, heavy bass alluring melodies, his artistic growth and experience is felt in every song, with “Shiners” being just a snapshot of what’s to come from the rapper in 2024.

Taking the stage single handedly or with Da Community collective – London’s East End collective for emerging Black artists across rap, hip-hop, jazz and soul who are “joining forces to thrive in a notoriously inaccessible industry” – D Wills continues to grow by leaning further into his niche and stepping out the box with his original sound. Catching the attention of well respected brands and platforms including Timberland, Lounges.

TV, UD and an exclusive live orchestra “BrixChamber”, DWills definitely has a lot more to bring. With a string of releases prepped and ready for the new year, keep your ear to the ground as we’re excited to bring you a lot more from DWills.
