Dro Kenji Wants to Feel the Fire in “ARSONIST” Video

Published

on

Channeling his pain and pleasure through every earworm melody he delivers, Dro Kenji’s uniquely diaristic style continues to endear him to an ever-growing contingent of fans. Returning to release his first video single of 2023, Dro Kenji dissects his toxic desires in “ARSONIST.” Lacing an atmospheric instrumental from CxdyFrankieBash, and BakBeats with his infectious flows, the track finds Kenji feeling a sharp hunger for cruelty, just to feel something: “F*ck my heart up, burn that sh*t, yeah I like my h*es arsonistic/Pull my strings, she’s so sadistic, I like my h*es narcissist.”

The Keaton Jones-directed cut for “ARSONIST” opens with Kenji pacing around the property of a luxury home, with little to do but smoke and reflect. As his appetite for torment grows, Kenji keeps himself occupied, raining down money on a dancer at a strip club, taking the stage for a performance on his “ANYWHERE BUT HERE Tour,” and hopping in the studio to further explore his toxic tendencies behind the mic.

“ARSONIST” arrives following Kenji’s January SoundCloud single, “YOU DON’T LOVE ME,” a potent opening salvo in an exciting 2023 for the Internet Money Records/MiraTouch artist. In 2022, Kenji kept busy, releasing three full length projects, including last January’s WITH OR WITHOUT YOU and last summer’s LOST IN HERE EP. Most recently, Kenji dropped ANYWHERE BUT HERE, a 13-track project and Kenji’s most varied and accomplished to date. The project is home to the buzzing Mike Dimes-featured track “STEP BACK,” and features appearances from fellow rising stars like MidwxstKa$hdami, and NoCap. When presented with cinematic instrumentals from Internet Money producers like Census and his MiraTouch label head Nick Mira, Kenji rises to the occasion, belting lovelorn relationship tales and diabolical flexes through his full-bodied tenor.

Determined to hustle his way to new heights, the young rapper is improving with every release. Sit back and stay tuned as Dro Kenji continues his ascent to the highest echelons of the rap game.

Lu’ (@ottawasveryown) is back with another one! He has been shaking things up in the music scene since his ground-breaking debut “FEVA,” released earlier in February this year. Now, he returns with another highly-anticipated single, “Over,” out now. This offering is accompanied with a music video & solidifies Lu’s mark in the music game with his captivating storytelling and infectious sound.

“Over” is another compelling feel good single that highlights Lu’s artistic identity and capability. “Over evokes pure enjoyment and immaculate summer vibes,” he says. He invites listeners into an irresistible musical experience through the Afrobeats sound. Drawing inspiration from English and French-speaking artists, as well as Congolese artists, he sets himself apart from the industry as a multilingual artist. The accompanying music video was shot in Lagos, Nigeria and offers a setting of African greatness, luxury, and an overall great time.

Originally hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and now making waves in Phoenix, Arizona, Lu’ is a renowned Arizona Cardinals linebacker who made his musical debut earlier this year with his debut single, “FEVA.” Fighting the notion of “shut up and dribble,” Lu’ has shown that he’s far more multifaceted than just an average athlete. He shares, “The narrative of ‘shut up and dribble’ is one I’ve fought internally for a very long time. I want my audience to grasp how passionate I am about chasing my wildest dreams. You can’t let another person tell you, your dreams are too far unattainable.” Lu’ has been able to perfectly parallel his passion and dedication of being a talented athlete as well as a talented artist.

It’s worth noting that Lu’ is a definite powerhouse to keep an eye on as he continues to break barriers in both sports and music. His transition from sports to music is a prominent testament to him embracing his versatility, following his dreams, and reaching new heights. The unfolding musical journey of this rising Canadian artist is a must see.
