BRODY BROWN RELEASES TWO-PACK“HOW IT COULDA BEEN / MY LIFE”

Published

LA’s Brody Brown comes through with a new two-pack to get his fans prepped for the year.

ABOUT Brody Brown:

Born Christopher Steven Brown, the Los Angeles -based multi-talent counts Quincy Jones, George Clinton, Dr. Dre, Battlecat, and DJ Quik as musical heroes. “I want to transition music fans’ minds,” says Brody Brown. “You don’t have to turn up all the time. You can be young and still have fun being classy and elegant. And I want to be the guy that shows people how to do that.”

A native of Compton, CA, the church-bred Brody B grew up in a musical family. His first instrument was the drums. “I left ink marks all over the family television set trying to use a pen as a drumstick,” he laughingly recalls of his seven-year-old self. But getting his hands on an actual set of drums still wasn’t enough. “I needed to learn more instruments because I wanted to express myself in every way I could.” At the tender age of 14, a precocious Brody B found himself accepting an invitation from R&B star Bobby V. to play bass on his tour. So Brody dropped out of high school to “what came naturally to me.” That opportunity led to him joining a crew of musicians/songwriters/producers now known as the multiple Grammy-nominated production teams 1500 or Nothin’ (Jay-Z, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, B.o.B.) Subsequent tour gigs with Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, T.I.

Since then, Brody Brown has quietly evolved into an in-demand songwriter/producer, racking up a series of enviable writing and/or production credits through word of mouth. Among them: co-writing Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa’s “Young, Wild & Free” featuring Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson’s “Feel Right” featuring Mystikal, Cee Lo Green’s “F*ck You,” T.I.’s “Love This Life,” Adele’s “All I Ask,” Lukas Graham’s “7 Years” / “Mama Said” and Nipsey Hussle’s “Feeling Myself.” In 2018 alone, Brody Brown earned five Grammys for his contributions to Mars’ album of the year-winning 24K Magic. As one-third of the innovative trio Shampoo Press & Curl (along with Mars and Philip Lawrence), Brody co-wrote and produced the double-platinum album’s five hit singles: “24K Magic,” “Chunky,” “Versace on the Floor,” “Finesse” and “That’s What I Like.”

Now Brody B is coming full circle. He’s stepping from behind the boards to take on his new role as artist & CEO of 80’s Baby Entertainment. As an artist he has just completed his debut album “The Kick Back” which will be released through his joint venture with Def Jam Recordings. As CEO, he would like to open the doors of 80’s Baby Entertainment to new and upcoming artists.

“For me, it doesn’t come down to money,” says Brody B. “It’s about legacy. I just wanted to make sure I do the best that I can do.”

Black Skywalker Drops Anticipated ‘I Need Therapy’ EP

Published

Black Skywalker, the rising artist with an undeniable buzz, drops his debut EP, I Need Therapy.

The new project promises to usher in the new era of hip-hop. “Rap music is in a dark place and I came to bring the light,” said Skywalker. “The type of music I make is best described as Outer Space Jedi-level rap shit.”

Black Skywalker and Chris Rosa produced the debut EP featuring the focus track “Pills and Alcohol”. The single describes a man battling depression and anxiety with prescription medicine and champagne.

The EP includes hard-hitting 808s, crackling snares, and spacey synths. “We in Love” is a melodic record with a bouncy bass and drums. However, the lyrics depict a flawed relationship due to social media and porn addiction.

Black Skywalker’s ‘Pain of Letting Go’ has huge production and raw guitar. The lyrics express deep emotion and heartbreak, making the EP’s inspiration very clear.

“Therapy” is a song that touches on the struggles of life and the importance of seeking help. The production is interesting, with dark verses and uplifting hooks. The second verse highlights the benefits of opening up to a therapist and encourages others to do the same.

“Slide with Me” is a standout track from the EP with great production and an infectious hook. It narrates the story of falling in love with the woman of your dreams and has an upbeat vibe that sets it apart from the rest of the EP.

EP delivers a relatable conversation, amazing production, and intentional songwriting. Black Skywalker calls it outer space Jedi-level rap music.
