MIA GLADSTONE & Teezo Touchdown Enter a LOOPY Digital World in “OPEN LETTER”

Published

on

MIA GLADSTONE is a master chemist who can seamlessly blend disparate elements into a single infectious groove. Coming through with her latest multi-faceted banger as she tries to disentangle a complicated relationship, MIA GLADSTONE shares OPEN LETTER,” a new video single. A duet with fellow rising artist Teezo Touchdown, the song combines elements of hip-hop, R&B, dance music, and more into a sound of its own. “OPEN LETTER” appears on LOOPY, Mia’s next project, out this Friday, October 14th.

“I wrote ‘OPEN LETTER’ about two people,” says MIA GLADSTONE. “I was infatuated with them simultaneously–it was a confusing time. I felt like my love with the first person had the potential to be harmonious, and the other love was more complicated, less stable…There was an element of chase, chaos… I wrote it over a period of a couple months, so relationships shifted and that was reflected in the lyrics. ‘OPEN LETTER’ has seen many iterations. It started as the hook & I wrote verses to that beat but it wasn’t flowing right so then I made the lil’ flute transition part in another project file, then made an alternate beat for new verses in a new project file, and then the outro on another, which became the intro. The creation of this song truly pushed my evolution as a producer and beatmaker. I experimented a lot, played with a lot of new plug-ins…It’s probably the longest I’ve spent on a song. It was like four songs that became one.”

“OPEN LETTER” arrives with a video that similarly combines multiple techniques and storylines into a chaotic, but cohesive whole. Directed by William Alan Harris, it combines elements of ethereal beauty with intense body horror, packing in references as diverse as Akira, the I Spy series of picture books, Fantastic VoyageThe Little Prince, and more, using claymation, stop-motion animation, CGI, papercut animation, and more to tell its story. In the video, Mia and Teezo have the power to change the environment with their words, transforming their surroundings and themselves to fit their lyrics.

“He’s a person who truly values art and does music because he loves it,” says MIA GLADSTONE of Teezo Touchdown. “We ended up shooting the video in LA for two days & the way he embodied his lyrics when we filmed was super inspiring to me.”

“OPEN LETTER” is the latest in a line of insanely creative videos from LOOPY, Mia’s forthcoming third project, out this Friday. Her first entirely self-produced body of work, LOOPY is an oasis of self-expression–the culmination of a three-year journey as a human exploring gender, sex, identity, fluidity, social media, the mind, and more.

Earlier this year, the artist shared the invigorating TALKING ONLINE” ft.Belis, takes an unflinching look at the horror of modern communication culture. “TALKING ONLINE” earned praise from FLAUNT, who called it “a brilliant satirical dig at the limitations media places on the human psyche” and hailed MIA GLADSTONE as a “DGAF media icon.” Mia kept the theme going with the sonically inventive  SOCIAL MEDIA” ft. Trent The HOOLiGAN, addressing the way social media companies profit off making people feel bad about themselves.

Featuring an appearance from Matt Martians on the bubbly, bass-heavy EMPATHY,” plus additional appearances from Lance Skiiwalker and more, LOOPY is available on Friday October 14th via PINK BOX STUDIOS.

Lu’ (@ottawasveryown) is back with another one! He has been shaking things up in the music scene since his ground-breaking debut “FEVA,” released earlier in February this year. Now, he returns with another highly-anticipated single, “Over,” out now. This offering is accompanied with a music video & solidifies Lu’s mark in the music game with his captivating storytelling and infectious sound.

“Over” is another compelling feel good single that highlights Lu’s artistic identity and capability. “Over evokes pure enjoyment and immaculate summer vibes,” he says. He invites listeners into an irresistible musical experience through the Afrobeats sound. Drawing inspiration from English and French-speaking artists, as well as Congolese artists, he sets himself apart from the industry as a multilingual artist. The accompanying music video was shot in Lagos, Nigeria and offers a setting of African greatness, luxury, and an overall great time.

Originally hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and now making waves in Phoenix, Arizona, Lu’ is a renowned Arizona Cardinals linebacker who made his musical debut earlier this year with his debut single, “FEVA.” Fighting the notion of “shut up and dribble,” Lu’ has shown that he’s far more multifaceted than just an average athlete. He shares, “The narrative of ‘shut up and dribble’ is one I’ve fought internally for a very long time. I want my audience to grasp how passionate I am about chasing my wildest dreams. You can’t let another person tell you, your dreams are too far unattainable.” Lu’ has been able to perfectly parallel his passion and dedication of being a talented athlete as well as a talented artist.

It’s worth noting that Lu’ is a definite powerhouse to keep an eye on as he continues to break barriers in both sports and music. His transition from sports to music is a prominent testament to him embracing his versatility, following his dreams, and reaching new heights. The unfolding musical journey of this rising Canadian artist is a must see.
