Gio Melody Get’s Real On “WHYOU”

Published

gio melody

WHYOU reflects on a past relationship in Gio’s life, after which he was forced to guard himself against the fear of being hurt emotionally. Gio frequently speaks about relationships in his music with a strong sense of vulnerability as his music is directly influenced by real events in his life. The song is reminiscent of his musical inspirations 6lack, The Weeknd, and other somber stars.

Gio produced and wrote this song 3 years ago, but was not necessarily eager to release it upon inception.

According to the introspective artist, “I only release the track when I feel that it is the right time. Sometimes, even though two people love each other they simply cannot co-exist. It’s kind of funny how I manifested my own future because I recently went through heartbreak… so I basically lived out the whole premise of this track. The sound I’m producing on every track is unplanned. I just go where the music takes me.”

Recorded at Quad NYC, where the guys practically reside, the track is carried by an infectious guitar line, punctuated with commanding 808s. Vibe check – reflective. Ride to it solo, or with a friend. Head nodding guaranteed.
