While he was growing up, he shuttled me back and forth between Compton and Oakland, California, and Dayton, Ohio. In Dayton, Ohio, he attended Meadowdale High School for one year (the ninth grade). When he was cut from the freshman basketball team, he decided to drop out of school. For this reason, he skipped the first two and a half years of high school and then enrolled at Belmont High School, where he played varsity basketball for a single year. After that, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) informed him that he could no longer play high school basketball under the Clair Muscaro OHSAA’s jurisdiction. So he moved away from Ohio to go to Redemption Christian Academy, a prep school in Troy, New York. His teammate Lamar Odom went on to win an NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers and play for several more teams. He had to return to Ohio when his time at Redemption Christian Academy ended owing to commitments with his family there. Later, he completed his education at Belmont High School in Dayton, Ohio. He enrolled at Central State University and spent a year there after finishing high school. When he was done with his studies at Central State University, he transferred to Clark State Community College to play basketball and earn his Associate of Arts degree in Elementary Education. He then attended Upper Iowa University, where he played college basketball and received a bachelor’s degree in business marketing. After finishing college, he stayed at Wells Fargo Financial through 2008. He left following the 2008 market and housing collapse. He then embarked on a journey of discovery, moving from place to place in search of work and a new identity.

Later, he decided to start Bottom2thatop Entertainment which is a multi-entity company. He was the CEO and co-founder of Global Music Distribution, Music Royalty Financing, IAM Feeling Good CBD and Hemp Company, Hoops and Vacation, Authentic Digital Marketing, Jetsetters Booking Agency, Linked Management, Solar Energy ASAP, Bottom2thatop Records, Authentic Creative Marketing. Jetsetters Marketing & Management Group Worldwide TM, and a few more companies are all under his leadership and direction. Furthermore, he and his son Michael Anderson have published more than fifty children’s books and have plans to publish an autobiography in addition to a number of works of fiction, novels, and nonfiction. This man splits his time between the cities of Miami, California, and Las Vegas.

From when he was 7 years old till he was 23 years old, he played basketball, and it is his favorite sport. He was a player at every level from the Amateur Athletic Union through High School to Prep School to College. It’s been a long time since he last picked up a basketball, and that was in college. His original goal in life was to become a professional basketball player for the NBA, but since that didn’t work out, he’s moved on to pursue other passions in the arts, including business, entertainment, and music. Over the course of his career, he has collaborated with numerous companies, including Jordan Tower Films, Worldstarhiphop, Universal Music Group, Livenation, ICM, Willaim Morris, CAA, Def Jam Records, MMP, New Money Twinz, Artest Media Group, and more. He has faith in Allah, and he loves his mom, his kids, his family, his friends, his team, and his coworkers. His message is, “Never give up and always put Allah first.” What doesn’t destroy you makes you stronger, he adds. With Allah’s help and your own determination, you may accomplish anything. Keep your mind on the task at hand, and learn to appreciate yourself, your fellow man, and your existence. Stick to the established norms. Knowledge and love, in the name of Allah, are potent weapons.

DUSTY LOCANE obliterates instrumentals with his booming basso delivery, commanding each track like a drill sergeant in boot camp. Joining forces with another rising star from his home borough, the Brooklyn bruiser shares WRAP EM UP,” a scintillating new video. On “WRAP EM UP,” DUSTY goes back and forth with 41 standout TaTa, his gravelly charisma providing the perfect counterpoint to TaTa’s manic energy, as they sing each other’s praises: “No cap, the knocker make him lift/And I’m with Dusty posted on the 5th,” says TaTa. The video finds the drill duo strutting their stuff in a graffitied soundstage, flanked by Brooklyn baddies and an emerald green Lambo as they energetically perform their verses.

“WRAP EM UP” is a highlight from  NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH, a sinister project that dropped on Halloween. The new tape continues to cement the Canarsie native’s chokehold on the Brooklyn drill scene, while also taking the time to showcase the talents of DUSTY’s 95MM crew, including 3KizzyKajun Waters, who recently teamed with DUSTY for the new banger “Chevelle,” SFIV5Stelly Hundo, and OMB Jay Dee. Home to highlights like PRESSURE” and FLU GANG,” and the buzzing single ROLANDO 2 (Catch The Rain)” (1.1 million views in 2 weeks), NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH is available everywhere via EMPIRE.

NIGHTMARE ON DA FIFTH continues a busy year for DUSTY LOCANE. He recently teamed up with his EMPIRE associates Rah Swish, OnPointLikeOP, and Ron Suno for the fierce SAY DAT EP,  home to peerless posse cuts like BUST DOWN” (1.2 million views) and “ANGELS & DEMONS” (1.1 million views). Earlier in the year, DUSTY dropped the ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN EP, which collected each installment of DUSTY, “ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN ”  singles, including the recent “ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN Pt. 3 (BEEN ROLLIN),” it’s TikTok-viral predecessor, and the GOLD certified original. The EP also featured his second-ever single, “Rolando (Caught In The Rain),” which generated hundreds of millions of streams across platforms.

Jay Critch Shares “Up All Night,” A Breezy Party Anthem

Putting his borough on his back as he continues a new phase of his career, Jay Critch is on a mission to ascend to NYC rap’s upper echelon. Showing us how he throws down in a breezy new banger, Jay Critch shares Up All Night.” Produced by Cozier, who applies an Afrobeats-inflected bounce under slinky keyboards and plinking xylophones, “Up All Night” finds Critch thinking about how far he’s come, from Clinton Hill corners to penthouses in Manhattan. Though he has more than he ever thought he’d have, “Up All Night” proves that all the success in the world won’t keep him from looking over his shoulder: “I been feelin’ paranoid, got me runnin’ red lights/Back when I was doin’ wrong, I was movin’ so right/Now I’m livin so fast, still prayin’ at night.” Despite his demons, Critch resolves to celebrate life’s pleasures, large and small: “I’m on the plane thinkin’ bout all the times I was out in the cold now I got my wrist frozen.” The video finds the 24-year-old rhymer traveling to Trinidad & Tobago for tropical days and debaucherous late nights.

“Up All Night” is the latest in a run of singles from the 24-year-old Brooklyn rapper. In September, he reconnected with his mentor and frequent collaborator Rich The Kid for only the second time since 2019 with his single Lefty” (over 1 million views). In August, Critch shared the beat-shifting banger Close To Me/Active,” combining two hard-hitting songs into one and proving why he remains Brooklyn’s big dog. Earlier this year, Critch connected with Harry Fraud for the airy, REVOLT-praised “Born With It.”

Since he burst onto the scene as a teenager with singles like “Ad Libs” and the beloved Hood Favorite mixtape, Jay Critch has been one of New York’s favorite sons. His collaborations with Rich The Kid and Famous Dex on the Rich Forever mixtape series remain the stuff of legend, but he hasn’t stopped switching up his style or releasing new heat for the streets. His 23-track 2021 effort Critch Tape found the artist expanding his sound to absorb drill and other prevailing street styles. The tape featured collaborations with fellow New Yorkers Fivio Foreign and Lil Tjay, as well as influential figures Skillibeng and Drakeo The Ruler. Critch recently expanded his CV to include modeling, as he modeled for the Kors x Ellesse campaign alongside Emily Ratajkowski earlier this year.

Currently hard at work on Jugg Season, his upcoming follow-up to Critch Tape, the Clinton Hill colossus prepares to resume his Five Borough takeover. Stay tuned for much more.
