@TheLetterZMusic Releases “Right Vibe Wrong Location”

Published

on

The Letter Z releases the first single and video “Right Vibe, Wrong Location” from his forthcoming full length debut EP The Last Letter (JustOverMusic / Warner Music). Hailing from Toronto’s Jane and Finch neighborhood, The Letter Z references iconic R&B acts from the 90s and early 2000s while also staying current and evoking elements of contemporary trap and hip hop. After debuting his catchy hardcore R&B sound with heavy hip hop production undertones in Fall 2019 at Atlanta’s A3C Festival, quickly followed up by a much talked about performance at Manifesto, Toronto’s largest hip hop culture festival, that’s when The Letter Z’s local legend took flight. Produced by Don Fredericko and 23 Keyz with additional songwriting from Jaek Delarge (J-Soul, Cash Money Records), “Right Vibe, Wrong Location” showcases The Letter Z’s melodic R&B lilt and seductive, compelling lyrics on top of the retro-futuristic sounds cooked up by his team JustOverMusic. Says The Letter Z:

“Right Vibe Wrong Location is a sexually driven song depicting the intentions and desires of a man for a woman that seems so close yet is so far away. Especially when the vibe doesn’t match the time or the place. One can only develop a yearning so deep that it’s hard to ignore. The drums and the keys accompanied by the melodic harmonies are the driving force behind the song’s intentions.”

As a singer, songwriter and consummate performer, success runs in his bloodlines as he is the younger brother of Berlin-based powerhouse vocalist/rapper Isis Salam (Thunderheist). Having already shared the stage in his young career with Juno Award-winning vocalist Jessie Reyez, and having collaborated with emerging Toronto stars J-Soul and Friyie, The Letter Z continues to generate an organic buzz in the industry. Having received opportunities to hone his craft and cut his teeth writing at renowned studios including Alicia Keys’ Jungle Studios and CashMoney’s Hit Factory, The Letter Z is looking to zoom up the charts, when all is said and done.

Multiplatinum GRAMMY® Award-nominated Washington, D.C. rapper and Glizzy Gang Founder Shy Glizzy has just picked up a platinum plaque for his enduring banger “White Girl.” In order to celebrate this milestone, he unveiled the long-awaited music video for the track—streaming on his official YouTube Channel now.

The black-and-white clip unfolds as a cinematic affair. It brings the lyrics to life as it follows Shy Glizzy past an encounter with a paparazzi and into the arms of a blonde femme fatale. In between seductive vignettes in the bedroom and at the pool, tension builds until the bloody finale ensues. It might just be his most captivating and arresting video to date.

Of course, the track originally adorned his breakout 2014 mixtape, Young Jefe, which introduced his fan favorite series of the same name.

It also continues a prolific streak. He recently dropped “MMY Freestyle” and “Underrated.” He shot the eye-catching video for the latter in Dubai. Moreover, HotNewHipHop hailed “Underrated” as “airy and chilled-out,” and REVOLT plugged the video, “He spends the day cruising the desert in his luxury red whip before heading off to the local markets at night.”

In other big news, his now-legendary collaboration with Goldlink “Crew” [feat. Brent Faiyaz & Shy Glizzy] has gone 6x-platinum!

Pushing forward without apology, Shy Glizzy consistently proves the real is back as he prepares more music for 2023.

Shy Glizzy has redefined, reignited, and reupped the DMV as a stronghold for hip-hop. Along the way, he has gathered over 1 billion streams and shined on the gold-certified “Do You Understand” [feat. Tory Lanez & Gunna] and the platinum-certified “White Girl.” He broke through into the mainstream in a big way with his appearance on Goldlink’s 6x-platinum “Crew” [feat. Brent Faiyaz & Shy Glizzy], earning a GRAMMY® Award nod in the process. Beyond widespread praise from Pitchfork, The FADER, The Washington Post, and more, he received a coveted cosign from Beyoncé who famously bopped along to “Awwsome” at Global Citizen Festival. Not to mention, he also heads up his own Glizzy Gang label as C.E.O. He not only remains a pillar of the DMV, but the culture at large as he kicks off his next era in 2023.

Icewear Vezzo Connects with Jeezy, Gangsta Grillz Tape Out 12/8

A slick-talking Detroit hero who’s steadily upped his ante in recent years, Icewear Vezzo drips with insights into successful street living. Teaming up with a fellow hustler for his latest music video, Vezzo shares “One Time” ft. Jeezy. Complete with the menacing piano lines and ominous bells that characterize many of Vezzo’s most beloved tracks, “One Time” is an anthem dedicated to the trappers and the flexers, with a countdown chorus that demands to be chanted by a crowd: “Three times for the n****s in heaven/Four times for the bad b*tches that’s steppin.” Vezzo and Jeezy are complemented by the energetic ad-libs of the legendary DJ Drama, who also appears in the music video. Directed by Diesel Films, the video finds Vezzo, Jeezy, and Drama relaxing in Vezzo’s native 6 Mile, as they turn up in an abandoned warehouse.

“One Time” hails from Paint The City, the upcoming mixtape by Icewear Vezzo. Hosted by DJ Drama, Paint The City is the latest edition of the DJ’s famous Gangsta Grillz series of tapes. The new video is the second glimpse of the upcoming tape, following God Bless The 6,” a collaboration with his fellow 6 Mile native Babyface Ray. The first full-length to be released since Vezzo signed to Quality Control MusicPaint The City is available everywhere on December 8th.

The upcoming tape arrives at the end of a banner year for the respected Detroit rapper. In July, Vezzo released his acclaimed Rich Off Pints 3, the concluding chapter of Vezzo’s signature mixtape series. Continuing the path set by 2021’s Rich Off Pints and Rich Off Pints 2, which generated a combined 150 million streams across platforms, Rich Off Pints 3 is the product of a man who has been through hell in the pursuit of better days. The tape recently earned praise from Pitchfork, who stated, “His latest project basks in the idea that an album this regionally specific can still have nationwide appeal.” Later in the summer, Vezzo connected with Kodak Black for It’s All On U,” a buzzing single that racked up over 5 million streams on Spotify and 11 million views on YouTube.

Vezzo’s new deal with Quality Control marks the start of an exciting new period of success for the budding superstar. Consistently racking up more than 4 million streams on his catalog per week, Vezzo’s ambitions reach far beyond music, and even beyond the physical realm. The Iced Up Records CEO is a serial entrepreneur, starting his own businesses in fields as diverse as real estate, cannabis, snacks (We Eatin! brand recently dropped Vezzo’s own flavor of chips, called Vezzo Hotz), and jewelry maintenance. Vezzo is on track to be a pioneer in the burgeoning metaverse, with his own VezzoVerse launching soon and a forthcoming line of NFTs.

With limitless ambition and the work ethic to achieve his every desire, it’s only a matter of time before Icewear Vezzo takes over the game.
