The Evil Empire Is Back!

Published

on

Nobody would think to throw $20,000 and smoke right in the center of the most conservative city in Georgia? Upcoming Atlanta artist Ross Taxin performs “My South African Plug” in the same town that incarcerated him and sentenced him to two years behind bars. This single is followed by his June release “$1,750” which featured former Waka Flocka Flame Bricksquad Monopoly DJ Trap-A-Holics (Damn Son Where’d You Find This). This time Ross Taxin called former Young Money/Cash Money DJ Evil Empire to assist with “My South African Plug”. It seems as if Ross Taxin collaborating with legendary mixtape DJs is reminding us where he came from, but also where he is headed with this new creative approach .

The inspiration for “My South African Plug” comes straight from the motherland, as Ross Taxin shouts out his surprisingly growing fanbase in South Africa, and previous 2019 connections. On his growing influence in Africa, he says “My African fanbase is through the roof. They love my sh*t. We actually go way back and I got ties over there, so I had to feed them with something.” Through new age marketing techniques and developing a southern unique sound, The Ross Taxin brand has expanded internationally. The eclectic delivery and carefully crafted imagery has allowed his music to resonate across borders, not just Atlanta. He quotes “They love the flag! I’m a symbolist, not just an artist.” This broad and inclusive approach has Ross Taxin dominating the internet in a way Atlanta hasn’t seen since Soulja Boy & Lil Yachty.

However, his international reach has not allowed Ross Taxin to forget about his hometown. The track features an eccentric beat produced by Jordan Bunk (@heyybunk). Also, the visual is shot and directed by childhood friend Hunter Simich (@huntersimichimages). Edited by SpaceHearts, the video contains extreme lucid visuals effects and features seamless transitions that keep the listener engaged throughout the entire 2 minutes. Simich Images & SpaceHearts captured Ross Taxin’s hilarious shenanigans such as making obscene gestures to bypassers and throwing over $20,000 in the air! Ross Taxin continues to show the rap game why he’s up next, with each video being raunchier than the next.
