The CrownHolder Chi Blizz stirs up Hip-Hop with “The Blizz Effect 2”
Chicago’s own Chi Blizz, also known as “TheCrownHolder”, has just released his latest album, The Blizz Effect 2, already making waves throughout Chicago. The 12-track project showcases Chi Blizz’s unique blend of hip-hop and rap featuring collaborations with artist such as G.S the Brand, Chanel Ellis, Beadz and others.
Setting a tone of stylish optimism, the project starts with the track “Bigger Than the Building” giving an eclectic mix of beats and playful lyricism. Leading into other singles like “Sumthin Different” ft BENONE and “Addicted”, The Blizz Effect 2 is a slight tease of Chi’s true capabilities. Although a few seat-fillers like “So Silly” and “Real Bad” made the cut, the overall theme is solid.
Additionally this is a complete 360 from his 2022 The Chi Blizz Effect EP. That EP included 7-tracks, with features from Johni Demeatri, GREASE, Coldhard and BIG Nastee. Offering a different approach, singles like “Is You Coo” and “2 in a Billion”, give off a “Boss Man” persona. However, this project has a more vulnerable and honest approach. Briefly touching on self-reflection and struggling with trust, listeners see Chi in a different light. Although catchy, the growth from The Blizz Effect to The Blizz Effect 2 is impressive.
To celebrate the release, Chi Blizz hosted a spectacular album release party in Chicago, drawing in the Chicago creative culture. As a well-respected Dj and Chicago media figure, The Chi Blizz Effect 2, proves he is capable of so much more. Breeze Barker (@breezebarker) is a seasoned rap veteran with the energy of a #1 pick in the draft.
