SNUPE BANDZ & PaperRoute Woo Got the Ticket on ‘BOYZ N THE HOOD’

Published

on

With their money-hungry motives and natural chemistry behind the mic, SNUPE BANDZ and PaperRoute Woo form the latest electrifying tag team to emerge from the South. Showcasing their complimentary styles, with SNUPE as the effortlessly high-flying stunner and Woo as the domineering hard-nosed tactician, the duo shares their new joint project, BOYZ N THE HOOD. Though their Southern synergy is felt throughout the project’s 15 tracks, each artist’s individual strengths shine through brilliantly – on “When I’m Bored,” Woo’s flex-heavy ferocity emerges in rare form, while SNUPE dazzles with his head-turning hooks and clever rhymes on standouts like “Team Player.” With high-energy features from Arkansas’ own Bankroll Freddie and the crunkstar himself, Duke DeuceBOYZ N THE HOOD is available everywhere now via Paper Route Empire.

Along with the joint album, the pair share their new bicoastal video for the standout track “Loyal.” In the SoCal spirit of the John Singleton film that inspired the project’s title, the clip for the bass-thumping track opens on SNUPE as he rolls through Studio City in a baby blue Corvette, with Woo tailing close behind in his blacked out Hellcat SRT. After posing before a mural of their mentor Young Dolph and sliding through Compton to pick up packs, the duo reemerges on the East Coast with their black and blue whips at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center. With Paper Route Empire comfortably seated atop their city, the “Boyz” could be coming soon to a hood near you as they look to expand their dominance.

SNUPE BANDZ and PaperRoute Woo have a long history of collaborations, dating back to 2020’s In My Bag” and continuing through last year’s Pop Out,” which drew 1.8 million YouTube views. Both SNUPE and Woo joined their mentor Young Dolph on Nothing To Me,” a standout single from last year’s PAPER ROUTE iLLUMINATi mixtape, generating over 8.9 million views, and they later took the stage in remembrance of their role model during a tribute set at Rolling Loud California. The two Memphis natives made memorable appearances on Paper Route Empire Presents: Long Live Dolph, the recent PRE compilation tape: SNUPE shined on his solo showcase “I Know Why,” and connected with Joddy Badass for the sensual “I Like,” while Woo flashed his mastery of flow in Fully Equipt.”

BLK ODYSSY ANNOUNCES ALBUM & SHARES NEW SINGLE FT KIRBY

Published

By

Austin’s own BLK ODYSSY announces his new album, DIAMONDS & FREAKS, out June 9th via EMPIRE. Alongside the announcement, is a new single “You Gotta Man,” featuring renowned songwriter and artist in her own right Kirby on one of the climactic statements of the four-part record introducing listeners to the central themes of self-identity, fame, and carnal desire throughout DIAMONDS & FREAKS. The new single follows the two previously-released tone-setting tracks that offered early looks at the album’s direction, “ODEE” and “Honeysuckle Neckbone,” which features the P-Funk legend Bootsy Collins.

DIAMONDS & FREAKS is a concept album that tells the story of a man blinded by his own lust. Presented as an erotic novel by musician and poet Keisha Plum with narration by bassist Bootsy Collins, both of whom offer a stark contradiction to the vivid and edgy content of the songs. Composed of four distinct chapters, DIAMONDS & FREAKS is a neo-soul journal, chronicling BLK’s adjustment to finding success and his relationship with sex. Written and recorded while on tour and in the midst of a tumultuous time struggling with the health of a family member, the album sways like a moral tug-of-war between success and succumbing to various forms of addiction, and the spirit of religion, faith, family and loss that pulls him back to reality.

Check out “YOU GOTTA MAN,” pre-order DIAMONDS & FREAKS, and see below for more info on BLK ODYSSY.

$NOT RELEASES NEW SINGLE “EASTER PINK”

Published

By

Looking out at the world through his tightly-drawn hoodie, $NOT finds little reason to be impressed. Returning to the world of mortals with an invitation to his trippy musical universe, $NOT shares “Easter Pink” via 300 Entertainment. Over shimmering, psychedelic guitar riffs and bold, thumping bass, $NOT sermonizes about cars, killers, loneliness, Nikes, and more in his steadfast, sinister delivery: “I got hella money but it don’t mean nothing/Cause what’s happiness if my brain can’t function/My mental’s all trapped and I can’t feel nothing, I’m running.”

“Easter Pink” arrives as $NOT nears the halfway point of his 33-date “Get Busy Or Die Tour.” With support from Night Lovell, Eem Triplin, and DC The Don, the “Get Busy Or Die Tour” kicked off on May 4th in Orlando, FL, made its way up the West Coast earlier this week, and stops in NYC on June 15th before wrapping up on June 22nd in Nashville, TN.

The new single marks $NOT’s first solo release of 2023, arriving after a banner year in 2022 that helped catapult the New York native’s catalog to over 2 billion total streams. Last February, $NOT shared his project Ethereal, with creative direction by AWGE and appearances from A$AP RockyTrippie ReddJoey Bada$$Juicy J. The AWGE-directed video for the single “Doja” ft. A$AP Rocky reached YouTube’s trending chart after the audio generated over 10 million combined streams in its first week of release. Powered by a memorable hook that caught the attention of Doja Cat herself, “Doja” premiered at #87 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming $NOT’s first Hot 100 hit as a lead artist.

With the “Get Busy Or Die Tour” fully underway, plenty of music to come, and two billion streams in the bank, keep an eye on the young rapper as he continues to evolve into an icon on his own uncompromising terms.
