Rylo Rodriguez Puts Up “Basketball Numbers” in New Video

Published

on

A raw storyteller spitting pain-driven melodies through mellowed flows, Rylo Rodriguez has quickly established himself as a star of the south. Keeping up his knack for making his individual experiences strike a universal cord with listeners, the 4PF signee shares his latest video single, “Basketball Numbers.” Rhyming over acoustic guitar riffs that radiate a yearning sense of acceptance, Rylo reminisces over a close friend who was handed down a harsh sentence from an unjust system, and how he vows to look out for them and their families through hard times: “They gave him basketball numbers, he took a blind plea/I’m tryna get his lawyer for him, take care of his daughter for him.”

The video for “Basketball Numbers” opens on Rylo shooting hoops in an open gym in a vintage Allen Iverson jersey, interspersed with shots of his friend in a tense meeting with authorities. As the video progresses, Rylo can be seen wearing the same orange jumpsuit as his incarcerated associate, symbolizing his empathetic approach to music; putting himself in his subjects shoes as he speaks on their experiences. Released over the weekend, the video already racked up over 500k views and reached YouTube’s Top 20 Trending for music, where it currently sits at #11.

Since delivering his 2020 debut LP, G.I.H.F. (Goat In Human Form), a 17-track effort with appearances from Lil BabyMoneybagg Yo42 Dugg, and Yo Gotti, Rylo has demonstrated a rare ability to mold soulful street narratives about life in Mobile into heavy-hearted raps that speak to a universal struggle. That rare ability not only endeared him to Lil Baby who signed him to his 4PF imprint, but has since led artists like Kodak BlackNardo WickEST GeeOMB Peezy, and many more, to enlist Rylo’s signature style for their own music.

Stay tuned for more from Rylo Rodriguez as the summer progresses.

Grammy-nominated rapper Wiz Khalifa and world champion surfer-songwriter Makua have teamed up with Ozium to dropClear the Air,” – a bold new single and music video challenging cannabis stigma while celebrating their shared passions for music, surfing and cars.

For over 50 years, Ozium has  been a trusted name in air care, originally designed to combat airborne bacteria rather than just mask odors. Over time, it became a go-to for cannabis enthusiasts, earning more than 50 hip-hop shoutouts– including one from Wiz himself.

Now, Ozium’s“Clear the Air” campaign – developed with independent creative agency Madwell– embraces this cultural legacy. “This campaign is all about authenticity,” says John Rabenhost, CEO of Niteo Products. “Wiz and Makua embody the brand’s deep-rooted connection to music, lifestyle and self-expression.”.

“Clearing the air isn’t just about smoke – it’s about energy, good vibes and keeping things fresh,” Wiz Khalifa said. “I’ve been rocking with Ozium forever, so this just made sense. Whether you’re in the studio, in the car, or just chilling, you gotta keep the air right.”

Ozium campaign also includes a sweepstakes for exclusive merch featuring one-of-a-kind jewelry crafted by the bling legends at If & Co — who also created the Ozium bracelet adorned by Wiz in the music video.

“Back in the day when we were considered ‘bad boys’, our days were surf, sing, smoke, repeat,” said Rothman. “Back then it was not only taboo, but illegal, and Ozium was always there to clear the air. Nowadays, we use it to rid our lives of all the insane kid smells ravaging our house and home. Thank you for always being there to clear the air for us, Ozium!”
