Rapper Dré Anthony is Telling his Story Through Music
For Toronto rapper Dré Anthony, growing up in the city wasn’t easy. Like every aspiring artist, music was a big part of his life and while he credits his sister for supporting his career, it’s something he’s always wanted to pursue. At the age of 11, Dré competed on a talent show, which is where he realized music was his calling. A few years later, he would go on to record his first song.
For the young up-and-comer, inspiration is all about connecting with the music. “Whenever I create, I have to feel a connection to any song that I make,” he said. Anthony describes himself as a versatile artist who makes Hip-Hop, R&B and Dancehall, making him stand out from other artists. In 2020, he dropped his first mixtape Dice, which includes the single “On My Mind.” Dré is currently gearing up to release three new singles–an alternative R&B/Pop record, a catchy Pop/Hip-Hop track, as well as a Pop/Dancehall single.
Along with focusing on music and working on his craft, Anthony is looking to make an impact with his work and inspire others who wish to follow their dreams. “I want to impact everybody to be honest, but I for sure want to impact people from government housing as well. I want them to know you can change your life if you desire to.” Hard work and dedication have certainly paid off for the independent artist, whose music can be heard on major blogs like Rap and WorldStarHipHop.
