EMERGING ARTIST CANYON TAPS ICON RAEKWON FOR HIS BREAKOUT SINGLE “SHARK TANK”

Published

on

Canyon is a unique, new artist from New York who recently moved to Los Angeles. He is a self-made entrepreneur and artist who worked grueling sales jobs for 6 years, all with the dream of being able to invest into his own career.

After years of saving, networking, and building his music catalogue, he’s ready to step into the music forefront. When the pandemic hit, he seized the opportunity, eventually quitting his job, and using his personal skills to navigate within the rap world.

His first drop is a collaboration done with Hip-Hop legend, Raekwon. The track was produced by Skeyez and is now available on streaming sites everywhere. Canyon and Raekwon met in 2020 during the pandemic.

“Kid got talent,” Raekwon says “I was happy to be chosen to rock with him early on, look out for em!!!”

“I reached out to Raekwon for this record because I wanted my debut to have that powerful, introspective brilliance The Chef always brings,” Canyon says, “This all is crazy full circle for me, having grown up being inspired by WU-Tang, specifically Raekwon’s lyricism, to now having him on my first song and having his blessing, it all feels very surreal.”

In addition to Raekwon, Canyon has now collaborated with a number of other history making artists and will be dropping those tracks before the new year. Canyon is distinguished by his versatility, nuanced flow, and memorable hooks.

The name Canyon is to represent his depth as an artist, while also being an homage to his two home states of California (CA) and New York (NY). Stayed tuned for new singles and a debut project expecting to drop in early 2022.

Star2 x Sprite x Luh Kel Drop “Where Would You Go?”

Star2 x Sprite x Luh Kel release the new single and video “Where Would You Go?”. The song taps into the frustration of questioning someone’s loyalty to you. The verses seamlessly shift between English and Thai in a vibrant fusion of R&B-infused melodic hip hop that is both poignant and powerful.

“Where Would You Go?” was filmed at Wat Saket (The Golden Mount), which is a significant ancient Buddhist temple in Bangkok where monks live and pray.  Many scenes took place in the cave on the property that displays a large replica of the towering 33 ft. “Bamiyan Buddha” from central Afghanistan that was destroyed by the Taliban in 2001, and recreated to bring back the lost cultural heritage.

“Where Would You Go?” is from Star2’s forthcoming EP, No Place Like Home, which is set to drop on May 9th.

Jazmín, a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Quilmes and a former The Voice Argentina contestant, has explored pop, gospel, soul, and R&B in her past work, with her debut EP ROMPEPAGA and album CONVALESCERE tackling themes of resilience and healing. Tito, a 29-year-old composer, producer, and guitarist from Viedma, has worked with AfroSound Choir and various Argentine artists while composing for audiovisual projects like Discovery Channel.
