BOBBY SESSIONS RELEASES “ALONE TIME”

Published

on

Bobby Sessions swears he isn’t superstitious, but the way his career has unfolded has felt magical. Over the last decade, the Dallas MC has cultivated a pure, contemplative rap style while taking the kinds of career risks that make or break you.  The hunger he has for motivating people through his words can’t be ignored: it’s in each and every song, interview, and performance. A blistering, concentrated lyricist and speaker, the uncompromising Sessions is constantly focused and determined to attract the energy of those around him – whether onstage performing for fans or in the studio focused on his craft. In his eyes, it’s all the result of “manifestation,” the idea that he can turn his dreams into reality by envisioning them. It has paid off, securing him a deal and multiple projects with High Standardz / Def Jam, and a theme that weaves throughout his music and takes center stage on his major-label debut album, MANIFEST.

Growing up in Pleasant Grove in Southeast Dallas, Sessions always had a competitive spirit. He loved hip-hop, but put his energy into sports. When he enrolled at the University of North Texas, he realized he’d need a new outlet for letting loose. A group called Poetic Justice beckoned, and Sessions showed up to one of their readings. What he didn’t know was that it always ended with a freestyle cypher. So, being the competitor that he was, he took pen to paper with no prior experience. “I wrote a rap, came back next Tuesday, recited it,” he says. “The place went crazy.”  Dropping out of school, he spent the next few years cutting his teeth as a rapper, learning technical vocal skills as well as bigger philosophical ideas, like trusting the process and putting himself in positions to succeed. On December 31, 2014, he quit his day-job at Walmart to pursue his dream of becoming a recording artist full-time, and wrote the words ‘Def Jam Records’ on a dry erase board.  He was inspired by the book/documentary The Secret, whose central idea became the title exactly one year later of his debut indie album the Law Of Attraction (LOA). It was a passionate and fiery project influenced by the artists he grew up on as a kid from Dallas, Texas – from Jay-Z to James Brown to N.E.R.D.  The mixtape cover included an illustration of a Grammy next to the words ‘What you think you become.’

LOA was followed by a second indie album, grateful, a jazzy, self-aware reminder to be thankful. “Every freedom, every privilege, every great thing happening in our lives, down to your eyesight, each breath… we should put 100% of our energy into being grateful for that,” Sessions said.  His 2018 signing to Def Jam Recordings raised his profile with the arrival of “Like Me” and “Pick A Side” early in the year.  In the heat of the Black Lives Matter movement, RVLTN – Chapter 1: The Divided States of AmeriKKKa followed in July, the premiere release in his RVLTN EP series. That same month, the critically acclaimed The Hate U Give film featured his title tune “The Hate U Give” as the centerpiece of the motion picture soundtrack album.  In November 2018, Sessions released RVLTN – Chapter 2: The Art of Resistance.  Controversy followed with “Level Up,” “Made A Way” (heard in the interactive game trailer for EA’s FIFA 2021 video game), and Fight leading to the long-awaited sequel, RVLTN (Chapter 3): The Price of Freedom (released 9/11/20).  At the 63rd annual Grammy Awards® on March 14, 2021, Bobby won his first career Grammy® for Best Rap Song as co-writer of Megan Thee Stallion & Beyoncé’s RIAA platinum global chart-topping “Savage Remix.”  The back-to-back single releases of “Cog In the Machine” and ”Gold Rolex” set the scene for the arrival of Bobby’s major label album debut MANIFEST in June 2021.

LunchMoney Lewis Follows Up With New Single “Rain Or Shine”

Still riding “High” off his recent collaboration with Dylan Chambers and ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ GRAMMY win for Lil Durk’s “All My Life” featuring J. Cole earlier this year, Miami musician LunchMoney Lewis delivers “Rain or Shine.” Co-produced by JulianBeatz & BRIANXWHITE, “Rain or Shine” is a record about believing things will get better even when everything feels hopeless. In current times where there is so much pain in the world, Lewis wrote the Hip-Hop / R&B-influenced track to help us overcome life’s hurdles with love.

“In light of everything going on in the world, I’ve been in a very tough place creatively about what I wanna write about. Seeing so many innocent lives taken pushed me to make something that gives people hope in some fashion, rain or shine. We will continue to push love and love only, even in the face of darkness,” states the talented triple threat about the inspiration behind his latest leak.

Best known for his work with Dr. Luke as a producer, LunchMoney Lewis first broke into wide recognition as a rapper after appearing on the song “Trini Dem Girls” from Nicki Minaj’s 2014 album ‘The Pinkprint.’ He also co-wrote Jessie J’s single “Burnin’ Up” from her album ‘Sweet Talker,’ and Fifth Harmony’s single “Bo$$” from the album ‘Reflection.’ In 2015, he released his debut single as a solo artist, “Bills”, which peaked at 79 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number one on the ARIA Charts.
