BJ THE CHICAGO KID RELEASES TOXIC LOVE ANTHEM “MAKING ME MAD”, ALONGSIDE NEW EP, THREE

Published

on

6x GRAMMY Award-nominated singer & songwriter BJ The Chicago Kid releases his new single “Making Me Mad” alongside his EP, Three via his independent label, M.A.F.E. Music!

No stranger to taking real life experiences and turning them into songs, BJ caps off his “BJ Wendesdays” series with “Making Me Mad”, produced by Social House (Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Meghan Trainor). The flute heavy, R&B song details the moments in a relationship when you have a partner that thrives off toxicity. The 3-track EP, brought to life by BJ’s own life experiences, reflects on the ups and downs as well as the love/hate dynamic of relationships. Three is led by his “BJ Wednesday’s” singles “Smooth” and “6 Months” and showcases the singer at his best vocally, sonically and lyrically to say the least.

When discussing the process of making this EP, BJ had this to say “It feels good to be independent and finally be able to give my fans the music I’ve been making closer to the time it’s been created. It’s an empowering feeling because I think as artists often by the time a project comes out, we have emotionally detached from it. Three is special because this is very much my current takes or feelings on love and relationships instead of my thoughts from 1 to 2 years ago!”

2021 has been a busy year for the critically-acclaimed musician, who split from his long-time label, Motown Records earlier this year. Releasing his debut independent EP, 4 AM during summer 2021, the 4-track project received praise from NME, Complex, ESSENCE, UPROXX and Rated R&B among others. Having recently collaborated with the likes of Vic Mensa, Kirby, Lute and Jon Batiste, BJ was also featured on the soundtrack for The Academy Award winning film, Judas and the Black Messiah. Not to mention his recent much talked about performance at this fall’s Governor’s Ball.

With this latest release, BJ The Chicago Kid is leading the R&B pack and continuing to prove that real soul music is definitely here to stay!
