If We Had to Pick: G Eazy Vs Machine Gun Kelly

Published

on

Move over Pusha T and Drake, there’s a new rap feud brewing. This one is a little less high profile – possibly over Halsey. Yes, I’m talking about G Eazy. He’s embroiled in his first beef with Machine Gun Kelly, a white rapper that’s been relatively unheard of for a few years.

Who would have thought that the two would ever have a problem with each other? They seemingly exist in different worlds. Machine Gun Kelly embraces his whiteness and doesn’t even shoot for urban radio anymore. On the other hand, G Eazy doesn’t even utilize his altogether; his music is catchy, timely, and sonically smooth. The puzzle piece connecting both ends is Halsey; she was dating Eazy, they split, now she’s been rumored to have been with Machine Gun Kelly. Further explanations yield that he might be the reason that Eazy and Halsey split in the first place.

Machine Gun Kelly started things off with a Funkmaster Flex freestyle this week over Drake’s “Nonstop” insulting Eazy for whatever reason:

“Only Eazy I fuck with is E/I seen he’s about his hearing got a hanging earring/I fucked his girl now he look like this shit is overbearing/How dare him/I dare him/Don’t think about comparing/Now turn that frat rap off, I get sick of hearing.”

G Eazy responded yesterday with a ruthless diss called “Bad Boy,” and boy is it scathing. On the track he destroys MGK’s personal life, going at both his relationship with Halsey (alleged) and his mediocre album sales.

“‘Him & I’s’ on, bet you’re listening to Halsey sing to me/ Can’t fuck with nobody with so much negative energy/ A pillar in this game, bro, I’ll be here until infinity/ Ask myself why am I entertaining a mini me/ You’re so below my class, you’re reaching, you’re not offending me,” he raps.

Of the two, if we had to pick, we’d take G Eazy in a rap battle. Place “1942,” the genius collaboration with YBN Nahmir and Yo Gotti, against anything that Machine Gun Kelly has made and you’ll be hard pressed to find a song better. MGK’s flow is just outdated and his songs lackluster; this beef might be confirmation of failing career woes so he’s shooting in the dark to bring in interest. Eazy, on the other hand, seems to be getting better with time.

Only time will tell how this beef resolves itself. It we had to put our money on it though, we’d say that G Eazy will come out on top.
