Brightmo Trey breathes new life into a classic with “Just Got Paid”

Published

on

Everybody remembers the New Jack Swing classic “Just Got Paid” by Johnny Kemp (Rest in Peace). The lively hit encapsulated the energy of the youth and the pursuit of a rambunctious night. It has survived through the years in part because of its historical significance and also because it sounded damn good. The crisp, party-like production was just what we the culture needed to unload from the work week.

Brightmo Trey has repurposed this classic with his own rendition of “Just Got Paid,” adding some Detroit flavor to the classic. With his lively trap raps and creative delivery, Trey’s rendition is another beast entirely that sounds good in its own right.
