Currently burning up twitter with their catchy single ”I Smash”, 4sho Mag had the opportunity to sit down with Steppe N’ Dyce regarding their music.

INTRODUCING: Steppe N’ Dyce!

4shoMag: Tell us a little bit about yourselves:
SND: We are a female and male rap group formed in 2009. The duo consists of  Stephanie “Steppe” Shontay Watley  Elijah “Dyce” White. Steppe N Dyce are based out of Detroit, Michigan. We met a while back in 2004.
The bonding in are relationship just became mutual & grew as we became closer & basically straight up became family before anything else came within us & our career’s.

4shoMag: How long have you 2 been making music professionally?
SND: The group been making music together since late 2009 around November.

4shoMag: What’s the meaning behind the group name, Where did you get the names Steppe N Dyce from?
SND: Steppe’s Name comes from her government name which is Stephanie, DyCe name is basically based off  the way he views life.

4shoMag: How did you guys come up with your hot, catchy single “I Smash?”
SND: Well Dyce was out with his family while just sitting in the car waiting in the parking lot being very goofy & acting silly at the time singing dumb stuff being annoying then hours later he made the beat & recorded it & shot the track to Steppe then she wrote her verses & went in!

4shoMag: How would you describe your musical style, and who are your musical influences?
SND: We describe our style as fun catchy & party music that you can ride too & also jam 2 Michigan style of jam music! The group most def looks up to Soulja boy, New Boyz, Cali swag district grind because of how everyone doubted their sound of music & the dancing & silly music & how no one at the time in the city was doing that type of music & they stuck with the grind & kept going hard & killing the internet buzz.

4shoMag: You both are hip-hop artists. But in terms of hip-hop, how are you guys different?
SND:Were different because, We are a female & male rap duo group that makes jamming music. We are not afraid of to stand out & be us when it comes to making music & standing out, We grew up around party music, Not to much of street music or lyrical music because that style of music was never born to are passion.

4shoMag:What have you learnt as unsigned artists?
SND: We learned to be humble & kind & support the fans as they support us.
When you are no one & unsigned & no type of single & fan base? then big City stars that‘ s unsigned & also the industries too basically is going to over look you. But when you out here working hard & creating a brand & movement & also a huge following that’s growing? then little that you know, a lot of things change & the tables turn.

4shoMag: What producers and artists do you want to work with next?
SND: Some of the producers we’d like to work with are Mr. coli park, Jermaine Dupri, Swizzbeatz, Sonny digital and plenty more.. And far as artist, we want to work with any one that’s hot & ready to make hits!

4shoMag: Other than music, what else do you guys enjoy doing?
SND: We enjoy talking to the fans, watching movies.

4shoMag: How does it feel to be selected as a 4sho Magazine Freshman?
SND: Honestly it feels good because we actually enjoy 4sho Magazine & interviews & their hard work & how they just reached out to our trending most talk about song on the come up that trending around the world & twitter as #SteppeNDyce #Ifuck! #Ismash! #Idippp!
It’s a actually real blessing. Its seems this year has been going good so far!
